In the 1970’s our consultants wrote the code and trained DP (It was called DP then!) personnel on the first generation of teleprocessing monitors and systems software for mainframe systems.

In the1980’s, we implemented the networks, designed multi-vendor/multi-platform client/server databases and trained the database programmers and administrators on how to create, maintain, and optimize their data. In the 1990’s, we created 1000’s of networked web server environments on all the major operating systems – DOS, OS/2, Microsoft Windows, Novell, and Linux; and we provided the tailored training on how to make these diverse environments interoperate. And now we are among the leaders in implementing the myriad of Internet scripting languages and development platforms: JavaScript, VBScript, ASP, JSP, CGI, PHP, Beans, ActiveX, XML, Perl, WebSphere Studio Application Development, VisualAge, JBuilder, Web Gain, and Forte/Sun One, to name a few. ORACLE Training: Take the Oakwood Computing Challenge!

1. Request and review our ORACLE course outlines prior to making the decision as to where you should take your ORACLE training from. Our outlines include the most up-to-date topics and undocumented guidelines required for efficient code. 2. Talk to our instructors prior to enrolling in our ORACLE courses. If you don’t feel 100% comfortable with the approach, style and delivery of our instructor we will not let you enroll in the course! Not only that, we will provide you with alternative methods of mastering the subject matter and the hands-on practice you require – work books, and ORACLE skeleton programs. 3. Still not sure whether your organization, should send an employee to a Oakwood Computing course, review the table of contents from the ORACLE course workbook and download a sample chapter. 4. Ask for references and validate the quality of the course materials, workshops, and instructor. And don’t forget to confirm that the organization provided ongoing support after the course is over. 5. Check whether the organization that you are taking the ORACLE courses from is a licensed computer school.

ORACLE Training Program

All IT personnel will need to learn skills in order to implement the next generation of the ORACLE database inclusive of the ORACLE AS web server and the ORACLE application development platform: Forms Developer, Report Developer, and JDeveloper. Training will cut across generations – some very experienced people will be learning these web enablement and Java technologies; while first generation IT staff will be using “tried and tested” procedural programming languages and interfacing with both large and distributed databases for the first-time.

Program for Client A:

• Distance-learning will be used for ORACLE database concepts and ORACLE AS.
• Oakwood Computing in London will be used for their 3-day ORACLE Database Administration & Performance Tuning, 3-day ORACLE PL/SQL – Advanced, 5-day ORACLE Forms Developer, 4-day ORACLE9i Report Developer, and 4-day ORACLE JDeveloper.
• ORACLE Corporation offerings will be used for specialized Java programmer training.

The plan is to have three or four programmers and two or three people from web development and systems administration take the distance-learning training followed by the Oakwood Computing instructor-led courses. Based upon feedback from this group, we will either confirm this mix or make adjustments as needed.

On a long range basis, we plan that all of the programmers and web development staff will be trained in the new web technologies during the period January through May or June. The exact schedule will depend on other workloads on various members of the staff. ORACLE programmer education would be mostly completed during this period, although specialized courses may be taken later in the year.
